Exciting things are in store for the ADVANCE Act as it reaches the President’s desk this week.
The ADVANCE Act aims to strengthen the nation’s energy security and expand on clean energy.
The act includes the ability to repurpose brownfields and old coal sites for nuclear power.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito says we need more baseload energy, and small modular reactors will present an opportunity to increase nuclear power in West Virginia.
West Virginia is perfectly suited for this because some of our abandoned, coal-fire powerplants for instance that still have the transmission, we can put these smaller reactors on them and then create the employment and economic base that energy production provides.”
