WASHINGTON, D.C. (WVDN) — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the City of Weirton, W.Va., for their water treatment capacity project. This award was secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made by Senator Capito.
“The economic development taking place in Weirton is creating jobs and growing the economy. I have seen this growth firsthand and I am thrilled to see the critical resources I advocated for reach the city,” Ranking Member Capito said. “This funding will double the city’s water system treatment capacity, allowing expansion of services for residents and current and future redevelopment. I will continue supporting investments like this – which have a direct benefit for West Virginia – through my role on the Senate Appropriations Committee.”
