Several law enforcement departments across the state are receiving funding to support public safety in West Virginia.

Of the departments receiving funds, two are in North Central West Virginia specifically – Fairmont State University is set to receive over $1,700,000 for security upgrades, and meanwhile, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department will receive $980,000 for public safety equipment and law enforcement technology.

These funds were announced by Senator Shelley Moore Capito Wednesday.

Capito said these additional resources will help ensure officers and public safety officials are equipped with the tools and training they need to keep West Virginia communities safe.
