WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, last week announced resources from several federal agencies for projects intended to bolster health services, economic development, infrastructure, education programs, environmental cleanup, and public housing projects across West Virginia.

HHS Funding
Capito, Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), announced grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for a variety of health projects in West Virginia.
$1,202,932 in HHS Health Center Program funding to Lincoln County Primary Care Center, Inc. (Hamlin, W.Va.).
$1,076,239 in HHS Head Start Program funding to PRIDE Community Services, Inc. (Logan, W.Va.).
DOT Funding
Capito, a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (T-HUD), helped secure two grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation, one for West Virginia University, and another for the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority.
$1,000,000 in DOT grant funding to the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (Charleston, W.Va.) for the Facility Replacement Project.

USDA Funding
Capito also delivered funding in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Partners Network to Generation West Virginia to support high-speed internet expansion projects in Lincoln, McDowell, Webster, and Fayette Counties. Senator Capito also secured funding for a rural economic development project.
$259,053 in USDA Rural Development REAP grant funding to Tolliver Enterprises, LLC (Huntington, W.Va.) to purchase and install an energy-efficient solar array.

EDA Funding
Capito, a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, announced an award from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for continued rehabilitation of the former Vossloh site in Poca.
$3,431,000 EDA award to Advantage Valley, Inc. (Charleston, W.Va.) to continue rehabilitation of the former Vossloh site in Poca, including renovations to the roofing, weatherproofing, replacement of exterior overhead doors, fire protection upgrades, bathroom upgrades, lighting upgrades, and appurtenances.
DOI Funding
Capito, a member of the Senate Appropriations Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, also announced formula grant funding from the Department of the Interior to plug orphaned wells in West Virginia. This funding was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Capito helped author.

NPS Funding
Capito also announced funding from the National Parks Service State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices in West Virginia.
