U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, on Monday announced grants from various federal agencies and other organizations to deliver funds for projects she championed, including healthcare, education, research, environmental cleanup, infrastructure, economic development, and drug use prevention projects.

Over $1 million in the funding are earmarked for projects in Hampshire County, including:

  • $199,122 in HHS Substance Abuse Prevention grant funding to Hampshire County (Romney);
  • $500,000 in FWS funding to Cacapon and Lost Rivers Land Trust (Capon Bridge) wildlife habitat conservation in the Cacapon and Lost Rivers Watershed.
  • $74,100 in FWS funding to Cacapon and Lost Rivers Land Trust (Capon Bridge) to protect biodiversity in West Virginia’s Cacapon Watershed
  • $300,000 FEMA Emergency Preparedness Grant award to Camp Torah, Inc. (High View)

Capito serves on committees that provided the funding, including Senate Appropriations Subcommitte on Labor, Health and Human Services, which provided the substance abuse funding; the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which provided the funding for the watersheds; and the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, which provided the preparedness grant.
