The Trump Administration continues to ramp up efforts to tackle illegal immigration.

On Wednesday, President Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law, which mandates the detention of illegal immigrants accused of theft-related crimes, as well as assaults on law enforcement officers.

West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito was a supporter of the bill, as well as the Trump Administration’s recent efforts to ramp up deportations of illegal immigrants with criminal records.

“He said he was going to do this, I support him doing this and I think it will make our country safer, and it shows by the number of people coming across the border which has plunged from 11,000 a day to just over 600 a day that this President means business and he is going to control our border. And I’m very much in support of that, as I know West Virginians are.”

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, (R-WV)

Capito tells us that as of Thursday, the Trump Administration has deported approximately 7000 people.
