U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a leader on the Senate Appropriations Committee, has announced grants from various federal agencies and organizations to deliver funds for projects she championed, including healthcare, education, research, environmental cleanup, infrastructure, public safety, and economic development projects. Mingo County has received many of these grants.
$500,000 in Appalachian Regional Commission funding to Williamson Health and Wellness Center for workforce training.
$125,099 in United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant funding to the Greater Williamson Development Corporation (Williamson, W.Va.) to provide technical assistance to small businesses in and around Williamson.
This coincides with an earlier grant that was received by the city of Williamson for the upcoming Water Infrastructure project.
