A health care association in Barbour County will receive federal grant funding, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., announced.

Belington Community Medical Services Association can expect a $125,000 Drug Free Community grant from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Capito, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced nine $125,000 DFC grants from the ONDCP for West Virginia communities.

Belington Community Medical Services Association is a primary care center that owns and operates Barbour Behavioral Health, Barbour Quick Care, Belington Medical Clinic, Belington Wellness Center.

Brandon School-Based, Brandon Medical Center, the Myers Clinic, and Philippi Wellness Center Radiology.

The other eight $125,000 DFC grants went to programs in Fayetteville, Martinsburg, Matheny, Princeton, Ranson, Welch, and two in Huntington.

Capito also announced grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for a variety of health projects in West Virginia, including Head Start programs in Clarksburg, Fairmont, Bluefield and Martinsburg; and a number of grants for the state Department of Health, for programs including immunization and vaccines for children, a hospital preparedness program and the West Virginai Asthma EXHALE program.

As a ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, announced funding awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a variety of programs in West Virginia, including funding made available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which Capito helped begin negotiations on and crafted portions of the legislation.

She announced multiple EPA IIJA grants to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for projects involving making sure drinking water is safe.

As a ranking member of the EPW Committee, Capito secured grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission for two projects in West Virginia, including $1,509,517 in ARC grant funding for broadband industry grant technical assistance.
