WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin offered praise and support for Kanawha County lawyer and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Volk during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday on Capitol Hill.
President Donald Trump has nominated Volk to a vacancy on the U.S. District Court bench in the Southern District. Longtime District Judge John Copenhaver recently took senior status.
“Based on his experience as a judge and educator and his service to our federal court system, Frank is clearly qualified for the promotion to the federal district court bench,” Capito told committee members.
“Frank knows and understands the value of hard work,” said Manchin in testifying before fellow senators in Washington. “West Virginia and the federal bench need judges who are thoughtful, hard working, and exhibit a high level of intellect. Frank fits that role perfectly.”
Volk and his wife make their home in Cross lanes. The couple has two children. He is a native of Morgantown and graduate of the WVU College of Law.
