The Senate has recently passed the ADVANCE Act – standing for Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced, Nuclear for Clean Energy.
West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito is the Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and applauds the passage of the nuclear energy bill.
She says that this bipartisan legislation will encourage more innovation and investment in nuclear technologies, strengthen the nuclear workforce, and provide new opportunities to the people of West Virginia.
“It will be, I think, significant and they will be well-paid jobs, too. You have to have a lot of on site because there’s a lot of safety arenas and concerns and rightly so because safety first. That would have to be taken care of at the same time. So, I see this as an economic bonus as much as it is environmental and national security.”
SEN. SHELLEY MOORE CAPITO – (R) W.VA.
The ADVANCE Act passed in an 88-2 vote and is now headed to the president’s desk.
