C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc. is among six health centers receiving a portion of more than $5 million announced Monday by U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito.
Capito, R-W.Va., and Manchin, D-W.Va., announced a total of $5,285,486 in federal funds for health centers throughout West Virginia. The funding will be used to renovate and update facilities to accommodate more patients and increase access to services.
C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc., with services provided in Hancock and Brooke counties, will receive $861,961.
"In West Virginia, local health centers are critically important to the wellbeing of our rural and underserved communities," said Capito. "The facility updates and renovations that will result from this funding will expand access to care and improve treatment. Not only will these health centers have better resources to address the demands in each community, this funding will also help strengthen efforts to promote better overall health for West Virginians."
Other organizations set to receive funds are Camden-on-Gauley Medical Center Inc., $1 million; Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, $1 million; Rainelle Medical Center, $699,132; Valley Health Systems, Inc., $1 million; and Williamson Health and Wellness Center, $724,663.
"This important funding will help ensure that our health center facilities across West Virginia are renovated, expanded and constructed to provide exceptional healthcare services to our communities," Manchin said. "Our health centers will be able to treat more patients and provide comprehensive primary and preventative care to those in underserved areas. These centers play such an important role in the health and safety of West Virginians and we must make sure they are able to meet the needs of our communities.”
