WASHINGTON — A $79,200 grant has been awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to Paden City, West Virginia.

The grant will support the city as it implements property improvements and transforms a vacant industrial space into a manufacturing or related business space.

U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., jointly announced the funding Monday. Both senators serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“As Paden City continues to grow, this EDA investment will help the community better identify areas for new development, particularly in Opportunity Zones. In turn, those developments will help boost the local economy,” Capito said. “As Ranking Member of the EPW Committee, which oversees EDA, I’m proud to see this award support Paden City and its economic potential.”

Paden City sits on the border between Tyler and Wetzel counties.

“The EDA continues to be a strong partner for West Virginia through the investments in our state, our businesses and our people. I am pleased EDA is investing in Paden City to update a vacant industrial space that will attract new manufacturers or businesses to the community. I was proud to support their efforts and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of this investment on the local economy. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to spur economic development in the Mountain State,” Manchin said.
