The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a total of $646,000 to the Preston County Public Service District to help with water service in the area.

This award will provide funding for the Waterline Extension and Masontown Interconnection Project, according to United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito’s office.

The project will support upgrades to the Preston County PSD #1 water treatment plant and construct approximately 5,100 feet of water line to provide fire flow availability and more reliable water service to customers already experiencing issues.

“I was proud to advocate to the EPA through my positions on the EPW and Appropriations Committees to lead the effort to both authorize and secure the funds that will help extend this critical waterline in Preston County,” Capito said. “Projects like this will improve the existing infrastructure and provide the community with more reliable water service, and I look forward to seeing it completed.”
