SPENCER, WV (WVNS) - A rural development grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is coming to help support law enforcement in one West Virginia community. U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced the grant on Friday, June 1, 2018.
The grant is $114,689. It will allow the City of Spencer to buy new equipment, including a police cruiser. Some of the money was also earmarked to help improve energy efficiency for several small businesses in the Mountain State.
"Federal investments in rural America and West Virginia help maintain a high quality of life in our communities," said Sen. Capito. "This funding will help law enforcement professionals keep our communities safe and give business owners the opportunity to save money and grow their operations."
