RANSON, W.Va. — The Independent Fire Co. received $186,667 on Monday through the new Assistance to Firefighters Grant program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin said.
“In order to keep our communities safe, West Virginia’s emergency responders must be equipped with the resources needed to help save lives," said Capito, R-W.Va. "This funding will help firefighters respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations, and help ensure the safety of those on the front lines.”
Two other West Virginia fire departments received grants through the program. The Mineral Wells (W.Va.) Fire Department received $655,239, and the Springfield (W.Va.) Fire Co. netted $45,239.
"Our dedicated firefighters and first responders voluntarily put their lives on the line each and every day to keep the people of West Virginia safe,” Manchin said.
