U.S. Senator Jim Justice (R-W.Va.) was officially sworn-in to his new seat on Jan. 14, following a brief delay to remain West Virginia’s governor.
During his swearing-in, Justice was accompanied by West Virginia’s Senior Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.).
“What a great day for the nation, and a great day for West Virginia,” Capito said in a video posted on X following the swearing-in. Former Governor Jim Justice, a great governor, is now going to be a great senator. Senator Justice, we’re so happy to have you here. We’re gonna work together to make sure that we are moving forward on the agenda that President Trump has sat. We agree with the direction that he wants to go, and I can’t wait to work with you here in the Senate to make sure that happens.”
Instead of being sworn into the office on Jan. 3, as is traditional, Justice delayed his swearing-in to remain West Virginia’s governor until Patrick Morrisey took his gubernatorial oath of office on Jan. 13.
“I am anxious to work with [Capito] and do anything and everything I can to move President Trump’s agenda forward,” Justice stated. “It’s time to put America on the right path. That’s all there is to it. That’s the reason I’m here, period.”
Justice was sworn into office by U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, (R-Iowa).
