Federal funding totaling $451,668 to help prevent childhood lead poisoning in West Virginia was announced Friday.
The award is from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources for childhood lead poisoning prevention.
It comes as elevated lead blood levels in multiple children has led to testing and a water line replacement program for Clarksburg Water Board customers.
The grant was announced by U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.
