Multiple local airports are set to receive more than $1 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito announced the grants Wednesday, which she helped secure for the area.
The Buckhannon-Upshur Airport Authority will receive $229,614 in total. They’ll receive $197,097 to install two new airport rotating beacons to enhance safety and $32,517 for reimbursement of a reconstructed hangar from August 2005.
The City of Philippi and the Barbour County Airport Authority will receive $520,785 for a project that constructs a new 1,290 square foot terminal to accommodate the movement of passengers and baggage.
The Fairmont-Marion County Regional Airport Authority will receive $265,771 to rehabilitate 1,000 feet of the existing taxi lane pavement to extend its useful life, and the Braxton County Airport Authority will receive $222,785 to acquire and install a new, automated weather observing system.
