The Waterline Extension and Masontown Interconnection Project in Preston County will receive more than $600,000 in federal funds.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito’s (R-WV) office announced in a press release that the project will receive $646,000 in funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The money will be used to upgrade the Preston County PSD #1 water treatment plant and construct approximately 5,100 feet of water line to provide fire flow and more reliable water service to customers already experiencing issues, the release said.

Capito secured the funding through a Congressionally Directed Spending request, according to the release.

“I was proud to advocate to the EPA through my positions on the EPW and Appropriations Committees to lead the effort to both authorize and secure the funds that will help extend this critical waterline in Preston County,” Capito said in the release. “Projects like this will improve the existing infrastructure and provide the community with more reliable water service and I look forward to seeing it completed.”
