Raffety to serve as US marshal for northern district

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The U.S. Senate confirmed J.C. Raffety on Thursday as the next U.S. marshal for West Virginia’s northern district.

Raffety served in the position between 2002 and 2010. He previously was a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, chief of the Buckhannon Police Department, member of the Upshur County Commission and interim chief for the Elkins Police Department.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., recommended Raffety for the position.

“He brings experience and knowledge to the position, as well as a proved commitment to keeping West Virginians safe and upholding the rule of law in our state,” Capito said in a press release. “I congratulate J.C. on his confirmation and look forward to continuing to work together as he once again takes on this important responsibility.”
