U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Preston County Public Service District (PSD) for a water infrastructure project.

This award, which was secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made solely by Capito in Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), will provide funding for the Waterline Extension and Masontown Interconnection Project in Preston County.

“I was proud to advocate to the EPA through my positions on the EPW and Appropriations Committees to lead the effort to both authorize and secure the funds that will help extend this critical waterline in Preston County,” Capito said. “Projects like this will improve the existing infrastructure and provide the community with more reliable water service and I look forward to seeing it completed.”

The EPA CDS will award $646,000 to the Preston County PSD #1 (Arthurdale) for the Waterline Extension and Masontown Interconnection Project. This project will support upgrades at the Preston County PSD #1 water treatment plant and construct approximately 5,100 feet of water line to provide fire flow availability and more reliable water service to customers already experiencing issues.
