WASHINGTON (WV News) — U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., on Wednesday wished West Virginians a happy Thanksgiving.

"Thanksgiving is such a special time of year, especially in West Virginia," Capito said. "It’s a time when we gather with our friends and loved ones, a time when we celebrate our family traditions, and a time when we probably eat too much food!

"But, Thanksgiving is more than just festivities," Capito said. "It’s a time for us to ponder the lessons that we have learned. It’s a time to reflect on the memories and people who came into our lives. It’s a time to cherish the moments we spend with one another. And, it’s a time to truly recognize all that we are thankful for: Whether it’s family, friends, good health, the selfless men and women in uniform who protect our cherished freedoms, or the opportunity to serve our great state.

"I recognize that I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving," Capito said. "As you join together with your loved ones this Thanksgiving, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the many blessings we all have as West Virginians and as Americans. From my family to yours, I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving."
