OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. — Success in Wheeling and updates nationally were discussed as U.S. Senator Shelley Moore-Capito and other local leaders gathered at Wheeling Park on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the Wheeling Chamber's "Lunch with Leaders" Event, as hundreds of people from local businesses filled the White Palace.

"It's our gathering that celebrates what the chamber has done throughout the year,” said Mike Howard, vice president, Membership, Events and Education, Wheeling Chamber.

And Capito was the chosen leader of this year's event, speaking on improvements across the board in the Friendly City.

“There's lots of businesses here, there's lots of people that are hiring, people that want to grow, that want good infrastructure, water and sewer, and roads, things that I talk with them every day about," Capito said.

And aside from Wheeling, updates on what is happening at the federal level were also noted.

"They need to know that Washington can work -- and will work -- and we need to get back on track,” Capito said. “I talked about some of the disfunction on the House side, and we are very concerned about that. It signals an inability to do your job and get your work done."

And as a Glen Dale native, Capito is excited to see where the future of Wheeling and the Northern Panhandle leads.
