MARTINSBURG,W.Va. - Senator Shelley Moore Capito announced Martinsburg will receive a reimbursement of  $4.9 million for a water supply clean-up.

"I'm so thrilled that the Air Force has finally put forward an agreement that will help recuperate the significant costs Martinsburg incurred during the cleanup of their water supply," Capito said.

The reimbursement is for expenses related to the 2016 cleanup in which high levels of harmful chemicals (PFAS) were found within the city's water.

In 2016, the EPA discovered high levels of PFAS in the City of Martinsburg's water supply. Firefighting foam used by the Air National Guard at the Eastern Regional Airport was identified as the source of the contamination.
