PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R) says she supports the president in his need to address border security.
This comes after President Trump's meeting with democratic leaders about money for the his long-promised border wall on the U.S. Southern border.
Senator Capito says it’s important to have better, more formidable border security.
She says the country needs a border system and should continue enhancing the border.
“I will say that you know here in the Congress we need to compromise because we have to have a bipartisan solution here but I’m not going to compromise on border security in terms of being able to move forward, the amounts we move forward on maybe the debatable parts I’m certainly hoping we don’t move to a government shutdown, I think in the end we’ll have it negotiated and we’ll have a firm settlement,” Senator Capito said.
She also said she’s spoken to the president about the funding for the wall.
