CHARLESTON, W.Va – Senator Shelley Moore Capito recently introduced a plan to replace the Affordable Care Act that she says will benefit West Virginians more than the Affordable Care Act has.

Her plan is called, The Patient Freedom Act of 2017.

Under the act, Senator Capito would reduce the Affordable Care Act regulations that she says have caused health insurance premiums to skyrocket.

It would return authority to the states and provide people with more choices.

However, it would keep key protections such as coverage for pre-existing conditions and allow dependent coverage for people under 26-years old.

"The goal is to get more people insured and to create a plan where a patient or a family makes their own healthcare decisions," Senator Capito said.

Senator Capito says she's been working on this plan for several months.
