WASHINGTON - West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R) encourages tax dollars to go toward mitigation during the FEMA budget hearing.
Capito, who chairs the Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee, attended the hearing and mentioned the work that is needed to be done in West Virginia.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's acting administrator, Peter Gaynor was also present.
“I think it’s reasonable to expect the community to get very impatient with the bureaucracies of acquiring property, all the environmental assessments,” Capito said.
FEMA is celebrating 40 years of service, marking 1979 as its year of establishment.
The organization FEMA is known for helping citizens before, during and after disasters.
