PLEASANTS COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R) visits Pleasants County on Thursday to see how she can advocate for Mid-Ohio Valley businesses when she gets back to Washington D.C.

Senator Capito toured the Sistersville Tank Works facility in Pleasants County.

The business is based in neighboring Tyler County.

The family-owned business makes products like custom ASME code pressure vessels and shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

Tank Works officials say the business is doing well and they thrive off their diverse customer field.

They told the senator one of their biggest concerns is tariffs.

"Our number one goal is to buy anything that we can from within the country for certain things that we can’t and we do have to go outside the country on unfortunately that does drive our costs up," said Jason Morgan, Sistersville Tank Works' chief financial officer.

“I think on the tariff side certainly the specificity of things coming in from china whether they’re manufactured or not is something that I need to talk with the White House about to make sure they understand how this impacting a small business here," said Sen. Capito.

The business has been around since the 1890s.
