BLUEFIELD, WV (WVVA) – Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R), along with other colleagues, stopped by the Bluefield Commercialization Center that is being run by the city of Bluefield.

Senator Capito was even able to test out the first product manufactured there, which is a remote control lawn mower, and meet the engineers behind the project.

"It was excellent that she is involved in our community,” says Engineer Derek Dotson. “It was nice that she had interest in what we were doing here."

"It really gives you hope you know, to be in a small community and have the Senator come down and take interest in what we're trying to do and what we're trying to achieve. It really gives you a good warm feeling," says engineer Devin Cortellesi.

Dotson and his equipment crew are the first to use the space, but the city of Bluefield hopes to open the space up to other entrepreneurs in the area.

They'd also like to partner with more Bluefield State College engineers to help them expand their crafts.
