MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., on Thursday announced $11.5 million in grant funding for criminal-justice programs, including about $1.2 million for juvenile and adult initiatives in Berkeley County.
Two grant awards totaling $1,236,043 awarded by the Department of Justice will, at least in part, support adult drug court and Project Aware, a program designed to help state and local education agencies increase awareness of mental-health issues among school-age children, according to a news release issued by the senators and officials familiar with the funding allocations.
The funding was provided by the Department of Justice to the Berkeley County Council.
