WASHINGTON (WDTV)-- U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced additional funding of $800,000 provided by the Department of Labor for Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant awarded to Workforce West Virginia in response to severe storms in February 2018.

According to Capito's office, the additional funding brings the total DWG funds awarded for the project to about $1.6 million.

“West Virginians are acutely aware that working to rebuild our communities after natural disasters can be costly and time-intensive,” Capito said. “Every bit of support helps. I’m pleased to see this funding go to Workforce West Virginia, which is on the front lines of cleanup and mitigation, and I appreciated the continued support of the Department of Labor.”

“We in West Virginia understand the major impacts of natural disasters and the effects they can have on our workers," Manchin said. "I am proud to see this funding for West Virginians and look forward to seeing the results of such an impactful organization. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for West Virginia workers."
