WASHINGTON — Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced the opportunity for Belington Community Medical Services Association to apply for $1 million in funding under the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP).
This funding will help support and expand opioid use prevention programs, recovery services, and enhance rural residents’ ability to access treatment and move towards recovery from opioid use.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has severely limited access to recovery treatment and services to West Virginians impacted by the addiction crisis. It is exciting to hear of this funding opportunity in Belington to increase access to these services," Capito said. "A major factor in our battle against the addiction crisis is expanding access to treatment for those in rural areas.
“Substance use disorder has ravaged West Virginia and our people, hurting families and devastating communities and the COVID-19 pandemic has only made matters worse," Manchin said. "This funding will help Belington address this issue and help their community members with substance use disorder by increasing access to prevention, treatment, and recovery services."
