Shelley Moore Capito, the West Virginia State Senator made a stop in Wood County. She briefly discussed something’s happening on Capitol Hill and what they are working towards now.

“First of all we are trying to get our spending bills done, which is something we need to do. We have a huge deficit so we have got to start looking at our spending and cut spending and I am on the right committee to be able to do that. We are trying to work on tax issues; there is a tax bill coming out, and I have always been for reducing our taxes. The other thing is we have been working on the infrastructure, whether it’s roads, whether it’s water, trying to help individual communities provide the services so they can grow jobs, and we can grow jobs. And lastly I will say is the big disappointment to me in terms of President Biden is we tried to help solve is this catastrophe at the border, the southern border.” said Senator Capito.

Senator Capito had a meeting with officials wanting to get people back into their offices and in return, it would create more appeal to Parkersburg.

“I just had a meeting with the fiscal service which obviously has a big footprint in downtown Parkersburg and I am basically saying get these people back in their offices back in their job. Stop with the telecommuting because we need this downtown city of Parkersburg needs to have that kind of vibrancy a full out 2000 people who work there would provide.” said Senator Capito.

She is the first woman to be elected West Virginia State Senator and loves everything about her job, but it is nice to return to her old roots on the country roads.

“We got to remember, this is the greatest country probably that has ever existed in terms of freedom and prosperity and opportunity, so I never complain about about my job because it is an honor that the people of West Virginia elected me. I am the first woman ever elected to the U.S Senate West Virginia” said Senator Capito.
