U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) recently announced academy nominations for outstanding high school seniors from 20 West Virginia counties. In addition to hosting several Academy Days throughout the state, Sen. Capito appointed a board to review each application, interview students and recommend the nominees. Two of those nominations went to Jefferson County students.
Bronson V. Ballard was nominated to the United States Air Force Academy while Drew Michael Polczynski received a nomination to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
"One of my most important responsibilities is nominating young men and women for admission to our country's service academies," said Senator Capito. "I am thrilled to support these outstanding students for admission to our nation's most prestigious academic institutions. All of the nominees have worked hard to reach this point in their lives, and I am confident that, if selected, these students will represent West Virginia and our nation with honor and integrity."
