WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., on Monday announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Clarksburg Water Board for water system upgrades.

Funds will replace service lines in the North View, Rosebud and Stealey communities, as well as a transmission line off Van Buren Street.

It also will go toward the cost of repair and remediation of a water main break on West Pike Street in downtown Clarksburg.

“Following the discovery of the lead service lines in Clarksburg, I worked directly with the Water Board and the EPA on how to properly address potential contamination and next steps for removal and remediation,” Capito said.

“I am proud to see these resources go directly to the Clarksburg Water Board,” she said.

Maintaining and improving the water infrastructure is necessary to ensure safe drinking water for residents and to protect the environment, Clarksburg Water Board Manager Jason Myers said.

“These grants make it possible for communities to finance these projects, which in turn support homeowners, businesses and the local economy,” he said.
