Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin of the Mountain State are sending messages of thanks & giving this holiday.

The following comes from the senators and their respective offices.

Thanksgiving is a time for all of us to reflect on the great blessings we share as West Virginians and Americans. Today and every day, I am thankful for the privilege to serve the great people of West Virginia – it has truly been the honor of my life. As Gayle and I get ready to set off on a new adventure, we want to thank each and every one of our fellow West Virginians for supporting us. You have given me a lifetime of bragging rights. First of all, to be a West Virginian, but also to represent West Virginia and tell our story.

I was always taught that if you can count your blessings, you can share your blessings, and I have proudly passed this lesson along to my children and grandchildren. We are so blessed with the riches of loving families and friends, a beautiful state to call home and the knowledge that we are truly a statewide community with an unbreakable bond. I am also grateful to those who make incredible sacrifices both here and abroad to keep us all safe and free. I ask you to please join me in taking a moment today to thank those brave men and women who risk their lives to serve and protect. Their courage and strength serve as an inspiration to us all.

Each day presents its own unique challenges, but we must always remember the blessing of living in the greatest country on Earth. On behalf of Gayle, myself and our entire family, we wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving. May God continue to bless the great state of West Virginia and the United States of America.

--Senator Joe Manchin (I)

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a time when we get together with our family and our friends, sometimes at somebody’s house, sometimes you go somewhere that everybody can gather.

And it’s a time when we celebrate the many blessings that we are privileged to enjoy, both here in America and in our state of West Virginia.

This Thanksgiving, I encourage all West Virginians to cherish the time that you get to spend with your loved ones and honor the memory of those no longer with us.

I know for me, I think about the wonderful Thanksgiving dinners that mom and dad had for us with my dad’s extended families, and some of the funny stories, that we still tell—to this day—about, you know, the kids table and the adult table, and Uncle Paul wouldn’t stop talking, and all those fun things.

And so never forget how lucky we are to live in the greatest state, in the greatest country in the world.

I also ask that you keep those unable to be with their families, especially our service members deployed across the globe, in your thoughts and prayers.

We owe those brave men and women so much for protecting us every day, and I’m so thankful for their dedication to our country.

So, I am personally very grateful for my wonderful family and our great friends and the opportunity to serve you, my fellow West Virginians, in the United States Senate.

So, have a very happy Thanksgiving.
