WASHINGTON D.C. - This Women's History Month WOWK traveled to Washington D.C. to sit down with the women representing the Mountain State.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito is the first woman to represent West Virginia in the U.S. Senate and has been serving there since 2014. Before her days in the Senate she was in the House of Representatives for 14 years.

Capito now uses her platform as a Senator to help other women and that includes her program West Virginia Girls Rise Up. The Senator travels to classrooms across the country to speak to fifth grade girls and inspire them to go for leadership roles.
