Weekly Address to West Virginians
May 22, 2015

Hi - I'm Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and I would like to give you a quick update on this busy week in Washington.

On Wednesday, I had the privilege of welcoming West Virginia veterans to Washington as part of the Always Free Honor Flight.

This remarkable group of veterans fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

This week, I also sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch calling for the reinstatement of National Drug Take-Back Days.

This program has been very successful in preventing prescription medications from ending up in the wrong hands, and I am very disappointed that it has been discontinued.

With West Virginia leading the nation in drug overdose deaths, this issue is critical to our state. We must have several options for properly disposing of unwanted medications.

Lastly, this week I joined with a bipartisan group of Senators to introduce the STREAM Act. This bill will protect mining jobs in West Virginia and throughout Appalachia.

America needs a commonsense energy policy that utilizes our vast natural resources to provide affordable and reliable energy.
