WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $350,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Public Health and Science and Office of Minority Health to support the City of Huntington’s effort to battle the opioid crisis. The funds will support the city’s Integrated Community Program to Address Opioid Crisis.
“As one of America’s hardest hit cities, Huntington has set a strong example in the fight to end this devastating drug epidemic. I have seen the progress city officials and others leaders are making there and am glad this funding will help them continue their heroic efforts,” said Senator Capito.
“Huntington is ground zero for the opioid crisis in America,” Senator Manchin said. “The women and men on the front lines fighting this epidemic are the best among us and I will continue to fight to ensure they have the resources they need to help rebuild our communities and save lives. I continue to be encouraged by their commitment to tackling this crisis and together we can bring this epidemic to an end.”
