WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $663,347 in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for fire departments in five West Virginia counties. The grants awarded through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program will help local departments purchase new equipment.

“Our dedicated local fire departments keep West Virginia communities safe,” Senator Capito said. “In order for these first responders to effectively do their job, we must properly equip them with the tools and training required to do so and that is exactly what these grants will provide.”

“This funding will allow our fire departments to upgrade their equipment and continue to provide important services to their communities,” Senator Manchin said. “We must continue to do all we can to support these fire departments so they can continue to protect the West Virginian communities they serve.”
