WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $2,503,844 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for multiple West Virginia airports. This funding will be used to increase safety and efficiency of airport terminal and runway operations.
“West Virginians rely on the safety and security of our local airports to enable them to travel and transport goods and services,” Senator Capito said. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I was glad to help secure this funding, which will help West Virginia airports in Jackson, Greenbrier, Barbour and Raleigh counties continue delivering safe and efficient transportation for residents and visitors.”
“Investing in our infrastructure, by improving our airport runways, is one of the best ways to build a strong foundation for future economic growth," Senator Manchin said. "As a pilot myself, I understand the importance of maintaining airport facilities and the important role both airports play in West Virginia's economy. This funding will enable these West Virginia airports to make necessary repairs to their existing infrastructure to continue their important work in the state.”
