WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $3,325,622 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to support Head Start programs in Beckley and Oak Hill.

“Our Head Start programs give West Virginia children the strong foundation they need to succeed,” Senator Capito said. “Investing in programs like these put young West Virginians on the right path and benefit the communities around them. I’m confident this funding will help create bright and happy futures for the next generation of West Virginians.”

“I’m excited to announce these Head Start grants to give our children the education they deserve,” Senator Manchin said. “Early education is vital to positively mold the minds of our young West Virginians. These grants will ensure the continued success of our local children’s centers.”

Individual awards are listed below:  

  • $2,278,650 – Fayette County Child Development Center
  • $1,046,927 – Raleigh County Community Action Association, Inc.
