WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced $5,285,486 in federal funding for six health centers throughout West Virginia. According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), these grants will help approximately 10,776 patients in need. The funding will be used to renovate and update facilities in order to accommodate more patients and increase access to care.
“In West Virginia, local health centers are critically important to the wellbeing of our rural and underserved communities,” said Senator Capito. “The facility updates and renovations that will result from this funding will expand access to care and improve treatment. Not only will these health centers have better resources to address the demands in each community, this funding will also help strengthen efforts to promote better overall health for West Virginians.”
“This important funding will help ensure that our health center facilities across West Virginia are renovated, expanded and constructed to provide exceptional healthcare services to our communities,” Senator Manchin said. “Our health centers will be able to treat more patients and provide comprehensive primary and preventative care to those in underserved areas. These centers play such an important role in the health and safety of West Virginians and we must make sure they are able to meet the needs of our communities.”
