WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced that five airports in Logan, Grant, Mercer, Randolph and Mason counties will receive $864,949 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“These airports are very important to the communities they serve and to the state’s economy, so it is critical that they continue to operate safely and reliably. I made sure funding for rural airports was prioritized during the appropriations process, and I am glad this funding will benefit several counties across West Virginia,” said Senator Capito.

“As a pilot myself, I understand firsthand the importance of investing in our airport infrastructure and the benefit it brings to our state and the communities these airports serve,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will allow these airports to upgrade and rehabilitate their infrastructure to help prevent accidents, injuries and also lay the foundation for economic growth across West Virginia.”
