CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced a total of $1,951,636 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Kanawha County Board of Education will receive $1,651,636 in grant funding to support Head Start programs in West Virginia, while West Virginia University (WVU) will receive $300,000 to help further oral diseases and disorders research.
“As a staunch supporter of maintaining healthy communities, I am thrilled to see this funding headed to our state,” Senator Capito said. “These grants will allow Head Start programs throughout West Virginia to gain support to continue providing essential services to children and families, while WVU will be able to conduct research that could lead to breakthrough discoveries that keep our residents healthy.”
