WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced the Buckhannon-Upshur Airport Authority, Eastern WV Regional Airport Authority and Morgantown Municipal-Walter L Bill Hart Field will receive a total of $580,245 from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.
“In rural states like West Virginia, airports are critical for residents, visitors and businesses to access remote areas,” said Senator Capito. “Not only will this airport funding help improve travel throughout the state, it will also contribute to economic development.”
“Investing in our infrastructure is one of the best ways to create good jobs and build a strong foundation for future economic growth,” Senator Manchin said. “With this funding these airports will be able to make critical infrastructure improvements that will ensure the safety of our residents and travelers and boost economic development. As a pilot myself, aviation safety is a top priority for me and I’m glad this funding will go towards improving our airports and infrastructure.”
