WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced $733,927 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Mingo County Airport Authority in Williamson and the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority in Charleston.
 
“Investing in our airports is critically important to our economy and the safety of travelers,” Senator Capito said. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am glad that these airports will receive funding to advance projects that will improve their overall operations and safety for travelers.”
 
“These airports provide excellent economic growth opportunities for West Virginia, and as a pilot myself, I look forward to this investment in our aviation sector,” Senator Manchin said. “These grant funds will help prevent accidents and improve safety at the airports that serve these communities.”
 
Individual awards listed below:

  • $399,600 – Funding will be used to reimburse an energy efficiency study conducted by the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority.
  • $334,327 – Funding will support the construction of two taxi lanes at the Mingo County Airport Authority, which will provide access to aircraft T-hangars.
