WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the Fairmont-Morgantown Housing Authority will be awarded $125,000 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP). Specifically, the funding supports fair housing activities that educate the public and housing providers about equal opportunity in housing and compliance with the fair housing laws.
“West Virginians deserve equal opportunity, and we must continue to devote the necessary resources to provide fair housing education and outreach programs to our residents,” Senator Capito said. “This HUD funding helps meet that need for West Virginians while also making sure they are aware of the resources available to them. I am proud to help secure this funding for the Fairmont-Morgantown Housing Authority, and I look forward to the positive work this funding will help those do on the ground to protect victims of housing discrimination.”
