CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, announced $344,919 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Modulation Therapeutics, Inc. The funding will be used to support diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic research through a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant.
Recently, Senator Capito joined her colleagues to reintroduce the FAST Fix Act in the Senate. This bill would help states like West Virginia secure more STTR and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants for research and development.
“Many West Virginians are at increased risk for heart diseases like diabetes. That’s why it’s important we do all we can to reverse this trend, and this funding will help do just that. As the top Republican on the Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee, I will continue to advocate for resources our state needs as to support increased research efforts like this project at Modulation Therapeutics,” Ranking Member Capito said.
