WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), announced funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA).
This funding, which was secured through Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests made solely by Senator Capito, will be used to construct three permanent ambulance stations across Kanawha County in Dunbar, South Charleston, and St. Albans to provide the region with reliable, necessary emergency ambulance coverage.
“I am thrilled to see the funding that I worked hard to secure reach the KCEAA,” Ranking Member Capito said. “By having several permanent bases of operations across the county, our emergency responders will have tools they need to do lifesaving work and reach communities faster. This also provides the tools to better house and care for the ambulances and equipment. Being a Kanawha County resident myself, I feel safer knowing these resources will expand emergency services in our area.”
